Picked up another leather flight jacket a few weeks back. This time a BGS (Bundesgrenzschutz) leather flight jacket. It's similar to the grey Luftwaffe flight jacket although IMO it's made using more refined material than its Luftwaffe counterpart.

Anyway, here it is next to my Luftwaffe jacket. Longer body and with a removable velveton-like torso liner.

This photo illustrates perfectly what you don't see in those set up crew photos with zipped up jackets. Tiny little upper bodies and big jackets. This example IS extreme- I'm also thinking that this particular crew had some weird collar treatment or possibly even a couple of theatre made jackets. Still- you get my jist...

I recently purchased a HD jacket on ebay. Double breasted, old cycle king style. The snaps are coins, nickles and quarters. anyone have an idea when these coins were used on jackets? thanks. opr1945

All the materials have been procured and we are going to begin constructing our reproduction of the P. Goldsmith Sons Co A-2 next week. Watch this thread for further updates.

Here is our label layout for the jacket. We went with the SAT format for the spec label thinking that it would most likely be the same for a jacket made one year earlier. Note the larger text on the "Type A-2". In addition we went with the white Goldsmith label that was used for garments during the time the jacket was...

I found this shearling at my local consignment/thrift and had to pick it up for $45.00. I was told the owner had picked it up in Scotland.
Nice natural shearling, half belt, but weird double YKK left side zipper on it. Not sure why'd you want a double zipper on such a short coat?
Nice and toasty though and will fill the void till I find that older Irvin. I'm a 44 in size but this is probably a 46-48, which is great if you're wearing a big sweater.
1st day of the snow is beginning here.

Hi all, just thought I'd mention that I just had the surprise actually of buying a NOS 1980 Gibraltar tanker jacket from London and it's the same contract but NOS as the jacket I bought from Riverside California before a year or so ago. The odds of this is (weird) not sure. Same jacket but NOS. It smells like it has been stored for almost forty years. The only difference is that the left arm zip is different from Scovill that is on the first jacket that I got. Same year same contract. Also...

Purchased an ATF fleece lined tanker sz XL,,, great price point very nice utility jacket. The back ripped out right in the middle when I was putting it on for the second time.Called them and they sent out a new one straight up . Seems it's a problem in large sizes. All in all a great jacket and a super USA company !! The zip box looks like a Crown so I swapped it out for a late 40s Crown pull ,,, after I polished up a bit.

I sent my ELC B-10 in to American Dry Cleaners for Ozone cleaning. Just to give it a freshen up.
Jacket was collected in a plastic bag and appeared fine. Brought home and hung up. Next day I took it out, planning to wear it, and it was then, I discovered a nasty dual safety pin-hole and creases in the middle of the back. Some ignoramus had tagged the jacket!
Now, some may say not to worry, but this is a £700 jacket! Besides wear & tear on the area, this has also killed any re-sale...

Eastman A2 presently at £380 on Ebay. Personally I would not like a jacket like this as I think the aged appearance looks unnatural and I would rather gain character by wearing it over many years.

A while back, Chris (siddhartha) asked me to post some photos of my Lost Worlds CHP jacket. Well, it finally "warmed up" enough this week to pull it out of the closet and jump on the Triumph. So, I thought I would snap a few photos showing some of the details of the jacket.

I have had this jacket for just over 2 years now and the leather is nice and supple (and heavy of course).
