Bronson N1 deck vs. NonStock N1 deck

Hi new to the forum but lurking for a while. Been wanting to buy one of these jackets but not sure if I should settle for the cheaper version (nonstock) or the Bronson. Does anyone know the major differences other then the interior on the Bronson being 75/25 wool poly blend

Here are a couple of shots I took of an original Lost Worlds catalog from the 1990s. IMO this jacket is far superior to Stu's product now- not necessarily quality-wise but because the leather looks much better. It is thinner leather with the grain left in. Look at how much better the collar looks. The pockets are uneven- centered on the zip I guess. If I could buy a jacket like this today from Lost Worlds I would- I think it looks great. BTW- the original sin 30-415 appears even this far...

Ja Dubow 27798 (Platon) A-2 jacket review and pics

Heres my latest acquisition, one of Platon’s Dubow 27798 A-2s, in seal brown horsehide.
This one is a 42 (* see below), I am 5’10 trim, and it fits relatively well.
I could not go smaller, considering the Dubow pattern... (I recently tried on a new BK 1755 in a 40 and it was too small and short. Period. Awesome jacket though, one of the best repro A-2s I’ve ever seen).
Please excuse the pics. I will get around to taking better ones, but they do give a good indication of fit, and this...

A-2 Throat Clasps - WTF?

So, I bought my first A-2. It fits near-perfectly. The throat clasp even works and it fits me in the neck. However, it is VERY difficult to fasten the clasp. I cannot believe that ANYONE would EVER use that throat clasp for ANY reason in every day use. WTF? How did they come up with that design? Was it for use in open cockpits? Fine, but it is too hard to get clasped.

Zip's tape end repair

I apologize cause this issue has probably been discussed previously.
This is the inside of the Talon zipper tape on A-2 showing wear.





Is there a solution how to fix this?

On my many M-51s and M65s jackets, I simply worked these places with superglue (cyanocrylate) and they became tough and durable. Maybe here I will do the same...

Faded Goatskin Advice

Attached is a photo that shows the extreme extent to which the manky old goatskin A-2 that I recently bought on Ebay has faded. I would like to treat it to give it some moisture and darken the faded areas up a bit. Based on what I have read (Thank you VLJ Forum!), I am thinking that Renapur would be a good product. It is expensive though; should I just use vaseline? Or, will I just muck it up and would I be better off leaving it be?

A2 Restoration for Vet

Here's an original jacket I'm restoring for the Vet and his family. The paint has chipped quite a bit, the decal was 99% gone, and they want it freshened up a bit overall. The leather is in good condition with very nice patina and wear. It's got that been there done that look and I don't want to over do the colors, just bring back what is gone. I will take a series of photos for each section and post as this restoration progresses...

Judging from all the photos of flyers in the 1940's with very long fitting jackets, did they come in long sizes to fit those skinny post-depression, lousy chow, bodies?? I am 6'2" 182 lbs with a 43 inch chest and wear dress shirts with a 34 sleeve. I looked at the measurements of Platon's Dubo. I just cannot fit his jacket. Too short!! I have seen others comment on that regarding Platon's Dubow as well. What did tall guys, thinner than me, do to get get A-2's to fit...

Hey Guys,

need some help with this one. I googled the company and nothing came up. it is a heavy duty leather jacket and it has a zip out liner as well. I attached some pictures. Any idea on this company or when it might have been made? I assume it’s a motorcycle jacket based on the design. Any help would be amazing. Thanks guys!

Well i just got a confirmation from ELC that ELC will not be attending the Duxford show in July because they have AT LEAST 6 months of orders to complete.

They will come at Pop Up shop in November though.
