after several months of negotiations, i have finally landed this one, a switlik a-2. to the best of my knowledge there is no mention or notation of a switlik a-2 anywhere. it is tagged a size 42, but fits as a snug size 40. some interesting details are the double stitched pockets and flaps, early nipple snaps and the 1932 riveted talon zipper that has a puller marked both talon and hookless.

Sizing on a B-3

Since the weather's eventually going to go pear shaped here in Michigan, I've been eyeing B-3 jackets online, but am unsure of size. What's the prevailing wisdom on sizing for a B-3? Same size that you wear for an A-2? A size below that?

Hi Everyone

I hope that all of you are fine and doing good. This Thread is created to inform our friends about the working of B3 Jackets, also we need some input and information from well informed VLJ members and friends to make these Jackets as close as to original's.

Before that we started working on D-1 Mechanics Jackets and due to some well informed members like Mr. @ties70 really helped us to complete the job, But we...

I scored a great set of HB-7 Headphones fitted with ANB-H-1 receivers and the red PL-354 bail out plug. (HS-33?) and it came with a black JK-26 extension plug.
The receivers are Made by SHURE Brothers, Chicago, USA

they are in great shape. the leather is still soft and plyable. they came with one original MC-162-A rubber ear pad that is also soft and plyable. too bad the other was missing but I got a post war Japan made replacement of the same MC-162-A spec that match perfectly to the...

Ja Dubow 27798 (Platon) A-2 jacket review and pics

Heres my latest acquisition, one of Platon’s Dubow 27798 A-2s, in seal brown horsehide.
This one is a 42 (* see below), I am 5’10 trim, and it fits relatively well.
I could not go smaller, considering the Dubow pattern... (I recently tried on a new BK 1755 in a 40 and it was too small and short. Period. Awesome jacket though, one of the best repro A-2s I’ve ever seen).
Please excuse the pics. I will get around to taking better ones, but they do give a good indication of fit, and this...

A Christmas BK RW 23380

Haven't seen a lot of people posting their Christmas haul this year, so I thought I'd start showing off. I ordered this RW 23380 from Kelso in July and it arrived in October. I'm glad I asked Andy to send it to my family's house instead of mine, cuz I don't think I would have been able to hold out that extra 2 months for Christmas otherwise! o_O

Liberty hide lives up to its reputation, although I was a bit surprised by how similar it is in...

Next Jacket, M422a?

Hi Guys,

I am looking at buying a new jacket and thought I would ask for some thoughts from you guys.

So I currently have a 1950s Flight Jacket from Aero (see below), it has Alpaca lining and a black fur collar. It's made with the full weight tumbled brown horse hide. Its a fantastic jacket and fits really well, lots of room to put a jumper on under it etc. The only issue I have is its very very thick and heavy and honestly its just not flexible enough...

Yamaha Black Leather Jacket 60s/70s?

Hi I'm Max!

I bought this jacket years ago from a friend who deals in estates and vintage clothes/furniture. It has served me well and only today have I found a photo of one like it! (link attached) However, I haven't been able to find any definitive information about it. The wild thing is theres no tag! (just like the one in the posted link). I'd be interested in learning about maybe where the jacket came from and any nuances about it! Or maybe where I could research a similar era of...

Hi guys,

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we'll be upgrading the forum software for VLJ to Xenforo sometime this afternoon or tomorrow.

Nothing should change with your usernames or passwords. It will have a really basic look to start with, but I'll do everything I can to make it look similar to the current look.

In order to shorten the waiting time for my Aero, I now read all possible posts about leather jackets and stumbled of the nice thread <https://www.vintageleatherjackets.org/threads/amelia-earhart-flight-jacket-reproduction-the-aviatrix.19470/> from Skyhawk (thanks for that) and thought, why not try something like that?
Since I also came across @Shawn Ali from FivestarLeather in this forum, I simply asked if he could make me a jacket like this. This should sweeten...

82nd Airborne A2 advice

Hello all, I have a quick question which I’m hoping the brains trust can help me with.

I have the opportunity to purchase an original Aero Leather ( not the Scottish one) A2 which belonged to one of the glider pilots of the 82nd Airborne division on which the owner has listed the operations he wore the jacket in on the lining. It also comes with a provenance document.

Now, I’ve owned originals before which came without provenance so that was easy and cheaper but I’m wondering if there is...

How do I get this muck off ??
It's left a grey layer on a shearling jacket. I have scrubbed it with soap but some of it remains.
Has anyone tried white spirit/paint thinner ?
It's good to remember that the outer of sheepskin is not leather, it's acrylic and can't be conditioned easily. The jacket in question came to me like this, looks like it's an old coating.

BR / Bronson L-2 comparison

Already have 2 BR L-2a’s. One all blue, t’other with olive knits. Both superb jackets but pricey when new.
I ordered an L-2 from Bronson via ebay a week ago. Today it arrived.
First impressions are very good. Weighs the same as the BR - which suprised me.
Has good repro Talons. Knits are great. Nylon feels similar weave and heft/drape. Linings are supposed to be different so can’t compare but looks very much like a Buzz L-2.
Bronson is an XL. But fits like a BR 42”.
I will wear it with jeans...

Eastman Leather A-2 - Reissue 'Escape A-2'

Eastman A2 presently at £380 on Ebay. Personally I would not like a jacket like this as I think the aged appearance looks unnatural and I would rather gain character by wearing it over many years.
