1950s G-1 Jackets

As noted above the first G-1 spec was the 55J14 which was manufactured from 1947 to 1961. These jackets very collectible and only slightly less desireable than the earlier M-422A jackets. The 55J14 typically have shorter bodies than the M-422A and many have a snugger fit for their stated size. All of these jackets retain the painted "USN" stencil under the mouton collar...

Been to NOBLE HOUSE in the south of Germany right before Christmas to Support my son in law in purchasing a sheepskin jacket

Just a quick Impression of 3 jackets he tried on:

D1 - well on first sight the jacket looked about 80% accurate made with nice materials - actually considered to buy one but since i know that i mostly sell out NOBLE HOUSE stuff after some while i decided not to purchase one for me

B3 - what a funny jacket - far far away...

I ran across this on eBay last week second-hand, but basically brand new, and snapped it up. It's a size 48, and I'm not sure if Eastmans runs big, or B-3s run big, but now that I have it, I probably would've been better served by a 46 (much to my surprise/dismay). It's pretty roomy. The quality difference between this and my Aero B-6 is kind of shocking. The B-6 is a great jacket, and has served me well. Its not poorly-constructed by any means. But this thing is an Absolute Unit and is...

L-2A with collar?
This is a luftwaffe photo from 1956.
When blown up you can see the collar appears to be part of the jacket, but I can't see a webbing patch that should be on the left hand side of the zipper.

CWU-45P and 36P in non-US service

I have just received delivery of a CWU-45P. The jacket was probably worn by a German senior staff member at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program (ENJJPT). The jacket has the rank of Fregattenkapitän attached to the shoulder, and has the ENJJPT patch on the arm.

There can’t have been many German naval aviators with such a senior rank at Sheppard AFB from 1995 to 2008 when the last German Navy pilot retired. This being Fregattenkapitän Peter Schroth, he was the last fighter pilot in...

Cloth type desert CWU-45/p

The cloth versions of the desert CWU-36/P and CWU-45/P appear to have only been made by Valley Apparel.
Rather than the shiny nomex "disco" versions (which are much more abundant) the cloth version is made of the matte cloth aramid of which the desert tanker jacket is also made. It's a jacket I'm not afraid of walking around in, unlike the shiny disco type. The four velcro patches are a very nice addition. I won't be using them but they add character to the jacket...

I’ve had this jacket for a couple years, it was with a couple friends at a flea market who
Were trying to sell it for me as I thought it was to big, I picked it up Sunday to sell on
Ebay myself but when I put it on it occurred to me it really only feels big because the waist
Band has lost all elasticity, it’s measurements are smaller then my schott at shoulders and chest
By an inch yet feels looser / sloppier the only discernible difference appears to be the waist
Band, the schott is snug...

Cold Weather CVC jacket

I recently bought a surplus alpha industries cold weather CVC jacket from 1996 as a collectible. I was wandering what sort of patches would go on it to match the time period because I lack the knowledge. This jacket isn’t meant for me to wear outside it is mearly a collectible since I have no military service.

This is an old leather band bag I picked up at a local flea market years ago.
The patina on it caught my eye. I would give a silver dollar that it’s horse. But who knows. Definitely not goat. Lovely russet. More russet in person. Sort of red Toned brown.

82nd Airborne A2 advice

Hello all, I have a quick question which I’m hoping the brains trust can help me with.

I have the opportunity to purchase an original Aero Leather ( not the Scottish one) A2 which belonged to one of the glider pilots of the 82nd Airborne division on which the owner has listed the operations he wore the jacket in on the lining. It also comes with a provenance document.

Now, I’ve owned originals before which came without provenance so that was easy and cheaper but I’m wondering if there is...

This photo just popped up again on a FB local history group the area close to where I grew up. A very familiar scene of a bunch of local lads in town sometime in the 60's. They could well have come from or would later drop into the Busy Bee Cafe just few miles away.
