L-2B Find on Ebay

I found this great L-2B on eBay a few months ago and gave it to myself for Christmas. I think it's the real deal and not one of Alpha's later remakes, but I just don't know much about the nylon jackets. Never been a big fan of them, but what's a jacket collection without a few, right? Before you get too enthusiastic about it, it came without the TAC patch and the name strip. I added them later. The name strip was a random one I pulled off eBay, and it was the only one that looked 70s...

Then Came Bronson jacket id help requested

Hello, I am trying to identify the jackets worn by Michael Parks in the tv show Then Came Bronson. I would describe it as similar to an A-2, but with slash pockets, no epaulets, no knit waistband, and perhaps a bit swing back. The collar in the movie version was a Mandarin fall enough to turn down; but in the tv series it has what appears to be a corduroy collar. I can find no info at all on this, not even on the TCB fan websites. I have attached a pic of the early jacket. Any help is...

Does anybody make a decent repro of these? They seem like really practical jackets that deserve more attention than they get!

Hello all, we have been in the planning stage for some time now on the Aviatrix jacket. Our goal is to produce a high quality, durable "real" flight jacket for women that is an exact reproduction of one of Amelia's favorite flight jackets. Our hope is that this project can contribute to preserving the memory of the legendary woman aviator, while providing a solid vintage style flight jacket for women.

You can help make this project a reality by supporting our kickstarter campaign...

Accurate A2 Thread Color

Being new, I would have guessed that a seal brown A2 would be sewn with matching brown thread. But if I’m not mistaken, I’ve seen references to other thread colors being used. I believe Ive seen reference to OD as well as those with purplish or reddish hues. Again I could be wrong and perhaps this is on custom pieces. But I thought I’d ask anyway - what are accurate contract-era thread colors for A2s?

Got this relic a while ago, one of a kind BRONCO 29191 Type A-2.

This jacket belonged to an Aerial Gunner assigned to the 759th BS, 459th BG who flew numerous bombing missions over Italy and Austria during WWII aboard the B-24 Liberator “Th' Brokan Dollah”.

This beauty is extensively decorated and in very good condition, knits and zipper have been replaced, lining still in excellent shape but unfortunately the contract label was removed at some point.

On the front bears an Aerial Gunner...

Bulova watch and tech manual

I was at the Show of Shows in Louisville, KY this last week and bought this officer's grade Bulova ordnance watch and the teach manual. The manual is a great source of information for navigation, stop and personal watches. Anything on how to work on them, what the information on the back of them means, etc.

If there's anything you need to know, let me know and I'll look it up for you.

Is there a safe way to "refresh" a mouton collar?

My just bought 1963 G-1 has a nice undamaged mouton collar, but it has that smell of old stuff and probably it has some "grease and dust into it by use.
I was wondering if there is a way to "clean" it a bit without risk of damaging it or I can just put it outside in the air for a few day?
Do you think that some baking soda sprinkled on the collar could help?

Watches to wear with your flight jackets...

Hi Guys,

as I hi-jacked a thread over at the "General discussion" section and posted pitures of my watch in the "What jacket are you wearing today?" thread, I thought it might be cool to start a separate thread for watches here.

I have been interested in mechanical watches for decades now and like to combine them with my flight jackets or the other vintage-inspired clothing I wear.

Maybe just start right into it. This is my wearer today...

AVI LTHR Bronco A-2s on Ebay NOS

Another Forum member drew my attention to AVI LTHR's Ebay shop front. Looks like they are moving their 'older' stock of V1 or V2 A-2s (arguably the more 'accurate', versions), for a SONG!!!!
Besides Platon's Dubows (on another level of authenticity), these A-2s must be THE best deal on the Planet right now, for anyone looking for their first A-2 or something inexpensive to paint & patch up.

Seems only one each of size 38, 42, 44 and 46 available.
If anyones keen, I recommend sizing one up...

I'm looking for a patch, nose art, jacket art or anything along these lines, where a cartoon character/ animal is flying a small cartoon plane, and it's shooting/ bombing/ etc...you get the idea. Could you please point me in the right direction or post some of these here? I'm looking for inspiration for some artwork on my surfboard :) Thanks!

ELC HLB, ELC Monarch & GW Aero comparison

No intention of writing lots of words. Suffice to say all 3 are quality.
The hide on each is quite different... can’t say which i think is “best”. Too subjective
Softest is Monarch, followed by HLB then Aero.
Monarch fits best for me, then Aero, then HLB.
Forearms biggest (best) on Monarch, then Aero then HLB
Toughest knits on Aero (good old GW)
Henchest zipper is HLB, followed by Monarch. I think the Aero is a period NOS.
Enjoy some pics
