Waterproofing your boots
I should have done this a couple of months back before the snow hit but I only got around to waterproofing my boots today, something I do once a year. Back in NZ and Oz I used to use dubbin to do this with rugby and hiking boots, now I use Sno-Seal which is pretty much the same thing as far as I can tell.

New Netflix movie by Scorcesse on called “the Irishman”.
near the beginning Deniro’s character is wearing a leather jacket while working on his broken down truck. Man the jacket looks sweet. Not sure the type (halfbelt?) but wondering if it’s a repro or a vintage. I know actors sometimes are quite particular with some pieces of the wardrobe being worn.
has some gnarly grain and looks to be HH.

Cloth type desert CWU-45/p
The cloth versions of the desert CWU-36/P and CWU-45/P appear to have only been made by Valley Apparel.
Rather than the shiny nomex "disco" versions (which are much more abundant) the cloth version is made of the matte cloth aramid of which the desert tanker jacket is also made. It's a jacket I'm not afraid of walking around in, unlike the shiny disco type. The four velcro patches are a very nice addition. I won't be using them but they add character to the jacket...

Dubow Popularity?
Anyone care to guess why Dubow is so popular? Just judging by the amount of discussions, and the fact that Platon does only that contract, it seems that this manufacturer is probably the most popular of all. However I don't think the reasons have ever been discussed. Any thoughts?

Ja Dubow 27798 (Platon) A-2 jacket review and pics
Heres my latest acquisition, one of Platon’s Dubow 27798 A-2s, in seal brown horsehide.
This one is a 42 (* see below), I am 5’10 trim, and it fits relatively well.
I could not go smaller, considering the Dubow pattern... (I recently tried on a new BK 1755 in a 40 and it was too small and short. Period. Awesome jacket though, one of the best repro A-2s I’ve ever seen).
Please excuse the pics. I will get around to taking better ones, but they do give a good indication of fit, and this...
