This is an old leather band bag I picked up at a local flea market years ago.
The patina on it caught my eye. I would give a silver dollar that it’s horse. But who knows. Definitely not goat. Lovely russet. More russet in person. Sort of red Toned brown.

Bronson - Lost Shipment Woes

Hey guys, I ordered a B-10 during the Black Friday sale at Bronson. They shipped it 2 months ago and it never showed up, and the tracking never updated. It still says "Pre-shipment".

I contacted them about a month ago and they said they were looking into filing a claim, and that they would update me on 1/12. They didn't message me back, so I emailed again around 1/20. They said "China Post is looking for it".

So I guess forget about the claim coming through on 1/12, because it is now...

Hi,

I've tried to find info here and there, on this board and the internet to no avail. MASH japan has some info but incomplete.

I'd like to list B-15C's and D's contracts manufactured during the Korean war. Maybe a list exist somewhere hidden from me ;)

"After a purchase of 55J14 and M422, five star gives me confidence to their quality.
This is my third orders to their jacket, but this time, i ordered a 1.2mm leather to make the jacket stiffer. This M422a acquired a good craftsmanship, quality of leather as before.
Specification of the purchase:
1. 1.2mm dark seal brown goat-hide, size 48, but shorten the length of jacket...

Eastman A2 presently at £380 on Ebay. Personally I would not like a jacket like this as I think the aged appearance looks unnatural and I would rather gain character by wearing it over many years.

My name is Thomas and i`m addicted to deck jackets ...

Got 2 new repop deck jackets outta china - this time off the manufacturer "BOB DONG" and want to share my experiences:

I got one in both the khaki as well as in the nevy blue/darkgrey version

they have versions with just the stencil on the chest or with both chest and back stenciled (USN on chest / US NAVY on back)

fabric is pretty heavy and looks realistic compared with the material of some NOS USN coveralls I have in my collection...

All the materials have been procured and we are going to begin constructing our reproduction of the P. Goldsmith Sons Co A-2 next week. Watch this thread for further updates.

Here is our label layout for the jacket. We went with the SAT format for the spec label thinking that it would most likely be the same for a jacket made one year earlier. Note the larger text on the "Type A-2". In addition we went with the white Goldsmith label that was used for garments during the time the jacket was...

Here are some photos of our newly Crafted A-1 jacket. We made this with new top quality, 1.2 mm thick Goatskin leather, 100% Cotton Lining including sleeves, Real Horn Buttons, This one is made in our new Superior Grain Dark Brown Goatskin leather with high quality Knitted Rib. We also have Goat Aniline, & Goat Deer options for this jacket and we will have additional Capeskin options in the near future.

Has anyone been able to retrieve from the Navy or National Archives any of the original USN specification sheets for the 1940s/1950s /early 1960s vintage jackets? I have attached one page of an example from the 7823A series.

I just received the wool lined tanker I bought from At The Front during their cyber Monday sale. I love my fleece-lined one, it's an absolutely fantastic jacket. I planned on giving it to a friend (who's been wanting one and bugging me about it forever) and upgrading to the more accurate wool-lined one. However, it's not for me, so here's some comparisons before I send it back.

Top - Brand new ATF wool-lined tanker
Bottom - ATF fleece-lined tanker after about 2 years of (hard) wear...

1950s G-1 Jackets




As noted above the first G-1 spec was the 55J14 which was manufactured from 1947 to 1961. These jackets very collectible and only slightly less desireable than the earlier M-422A jackets. The 55J14 typically have shorter bodies than the M-422A and many have a snugger fit for their stated size. All of these jackets retain the painted "USN" stencil under the mouton collar...

Been to NOBLE HOUSE in the south of Germany right before Christmas to Support my son in law in purchasing a sheepskin jacket

Just a quick Impression of 3 jackets he tried on:

D1 - well on first sight the jacket looked about 80% accurate made with nice materials - actually considered to buy one but since i know that i mostly sell out NOBLE HOUSE stuff after some while i decided not to purchase one for me

Akron Area Repair Needed

I'm somewhat new to the Akron, OH area. I have a leather coat that I've had for over 10 years and I love it. I get compliments on it weekly if I'm out. It has a lot of stitching coming loose from the lining mainly. I only see only 1 obvious spot the leather needs to be fixed.

I joined the forum solely in hopes of someone to point me to a great repair shop.

I love all the great information so far. I appreciate all you precious time!!!

Guys,

not trying to p*** in somebody's beer here by trashing the new tendency to print patches...absolutely not, I really like some of this new stuff!

But sometimes customers come up with ideas that are so individual and good templates are not available. Of course, one could spent hours with the computer to create the wished for design, but what's the point in this? If the advantage of printing patches is to have them made cheap, in a moment and without too much personal effort...?
